Born in 1972, the only sports world Sara has known is one supported by Title IX. Her journey in sports began with softball, where she fell in love with the idea of being an "athlete". After lettering in basketball and having the responsibility of paying for her own education, fortunately for her, her athleticism allowed her to attend a community college on a basketball scholarship. She earned her Associates Degree and transferred immediately to SIU-E where she earned her Bachelor's in Science. Sara began her teaching career at Collinsville High School and coached softball, volleyball, and basketball. She completed her Master's Degree at SIU-E in Education Administration. With the Principalship calling, she moved to her first administrative role at Columbia High School and that same year met the love of her life, Richard Keene. After eight years at CHS, having three beautiful children and completing her Doctorate at St Louis University, Sara changed helms to Pattonville High School where she served three years as the Head High School Principal.
In 2011, The Keene's relocated to The Woodlands, Texas. In an effort to ease the transition for her children and family, Sara relinquished her career focused lifestyle to her family. Sports and fitness are ever-present in the Keene's home and it was through baseball that Girl got Game was born in December of 2014. With the help of her father in law, Howard Keene (former President of Rawlings), Sara was able to secure a manufacturer for the "Catchall". After finalizing the design, the "Catchall" was ready to be a "hit" at the baseball field March 27, 2015. In 2016, MVPbags was launched with the toiletry bags, backpacks and lanyards.
With the pause from shows due to COVID, Sara has enjoyed supporting her own children grow their love of their sports with RJ playing basketball for Boise State University and Sophia playing volleyball at Baylor University, both with full scholarships. Howie, her youngest has just started his recruiting for his basketball future.
